Auburn, Ala. – The USC Equestrian Team qualified six riders in seven classes at the Region 2 Finals held Saturday at Auburn University. Junior Lindsey Wilson qualified in both Novice Fences and Novice Flat by finishing second and third respectively. The top three finishers in each class at regionals advance to Zones.

Freshman Courtney Borton won Open Horsemanship and Senior Michelle Jenkins won Walk/Trot.

“I felt positive about the way I rode this weekend and I am excited to be moving on to Zones,” said Jenkins. “I am glad to see many teammates moving on to the next round as well. We should be well represented.”

Sophomore Molly Harrison qualified with a third place finish in Intermediate Flat and Junior Lisa Boykin also qualified with a third place finish in Novice Fences. Sophomore Kerrie Reeves also qualified by finishing third in Advanced Horsemanship.

“I am very proud of the girls that qualified,” Coach Duncan said. “Some mental errors and a difficult horse or two kept a few from qualifying but as a whole we rode very well.”

The Equestrian Team next travels to the Zone 5 Finals on April 5-6 at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia.
