Gainesville, Fla. – Antoinette Wilks won the women’s heptathlon at the Florida Relays, scoring 5,337 points for the victory. Friday’s competition was plagued by inclement weather in the Gainesville area.
Wilks used first-place finishes in the 100m hurdles, 200m dash, long jump and 800m run on her way to pacing the field. Teammate Chelsea Hammond won the high jump competition on her way to a seventh-place heptathlon finish.
Fred Townsend continued his strong showing in the decathlon, finishing in third place after winning the 100m dash, high jump, 400m dash and 100m hurdle events. Teammates Garry Martin finished seventh, Greg Royster was eighth and Garry Martin placed 21st in the event.
