Columbia, S.C. – Eirik Johansen, shooting 205, led the Gamecocks to a 10th place finish at the Cleveland Golf-ASU Invitational in Augusta, Ga. South Carolina posted a three-round score of 854 at the Forest Hills Golf Club. Host Augusta State won the tournament with a score of 820. Two strokes back at 822 were the Clemson Tigers, followed by Wake Forest with 839.
Johansen’s 11-under-par score of 205 earned him a fourth place finish, his sixth top ten finish of the year. Johansen played one of his best rounds of golf this season over the weekend, posting his lowest round score of his freshman campaign during round two of the invitational, 65.
Martin Rominger, continuing to improve as the season progresses, placed 18th with a two-day score of 210. Rominger fired two consecutive under-par scores of 67 and 71.
With a three-round score of 217, Alex Hamilton tied for 46th after shooting even-par 72 in the final round of competition. Teammate Nash Elliot shot 223, tying for 73rd. Michael Maness posted a score of 229 to finish in 87th.
Augusta State’s Oliver Wilson won the individual title with a total of 199.
The Gamecocks take the next two weeks off before they head to the Southeastern Conference Championship in St. Simmons Island, Ga. on April 25-27.
