Columbia,SC – The USC Equestrian team will travel to Athens, Georgia this weekend to compete in the Southern Equestrian Championship hosted by UGA. The championships will be held this Saturday, April 26, at the Animal Science Arena in Athens. This weekend’s competition will introduce a new NCAA Equestrian format and demonstrations of the new disciplines that will be implemented in the years to come.

Six SEC schools will be competing in the event including Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi State, South Carolina and Vanderbilt.

The championship will include four classes: English Equitation on the flat, English Equitation over fences, Western Equitation, and Western Reining. Drawing for seeding in the tournament, as well as the draw for horses will be held prior to the event.

Eight USC Equestrians will compete in the event including Sarah Tomasi, Tara Brothers, Lindsey Wilson, Chelsea Koornick, Kerrie Reeves, Courtney Borton, Kyra Hufford and Laura Pipkin.

The first competition is set to begin at 9:30 a.m. with the Gamecocks facing off against Vanderbilt. The showdown between Mississippi State and Auburn will start at 11:00 a.m. Georgia will take on the Florida Gators at 1 p.m.
