Columbia, S.C. – After firing 296 in round one of the NCAA East Regional in Auburn, Ala., the University of South Carolina stands in 12th place. Georgia Tech and Tennessee are tied for first with a seven-under-par 281. Clemson is third with 285, followed by Duke, who is currently fourth with 286.
Sophomore Martin Rominger blasted three-under-par 69 to tie for fifth place with Augusta State’s Emmet Turner. Eirik Johansen, a member of the 2003 First-Team All-SEC squad, is second of the team after posting a first round total of 74.
Alex Hamilton posted a four-over-par score of 76, while West Streib shot 77. Closing out the five-man squad is redshirt junior Nash Elliott, who shot 84.
The second round of the three day tournament, held at the Auburn University Club, will tee off on Friday, May 16. The top ten teams will advance to the NCAA Championships in Stillwater, Okla. on May 28-31.
