Erica Whipple became the second South Carolina women’s athlete in as many years to take home the SEC Commissioner’s trophy. The trophy is awarded to the men’s and women’s athlete that scores the most points in the meet. Whipple scored 21.5 points, beating out Elva Goulbourne of Auburn who scored 20 points. Last year, Antoinette Wilks won the SEC Commissioner’s Trophy.

Erica Whipple set a new school record and personal record for the second time in two days on Sunday in the finals of the 100m dash. On Saturday, Whipple set a new school record of 11.25 in the 100m dash, besting the old record of 11.33 set by teammate Aleen Bailey last year. On Sunday, Whipple obliterated that mark, running an 11.15 to finish second.

Whipple also set a personal record in the 200m dash, less than an hour after setting a personal record and school record in the 100m dash. Whipple won the 200m dash with a time of 22.82, pulling ahead of defending champion Stephanie Durst of LSU in the final 20 meters. Her old personal best mark was 23.08, set this year at Clemson.

Cheryl Terrio set a personal record and posted the best vault of any female pole vaulter with a height of 12′ 0″ as she qualified for the NCAA Regional Championships.

Carolina sent three athletes to the finals of the women’s 400m dash as Miki Barber, Shevon Stoddart, and Tawana Watkins finished 3-6-7 in the preliminaries as Stoddart and Watkins both set personal best marks. Barber ran a time of 53.09 to easily win her heat and finish third overall. Stoddart placed sixth overall and ran a time of 53.54 eclipsing her old personal best of 53.71. Watkins placed seventh overall with a time of 53.95, also setting a new personal best mark topping her old mark of 54.40.

Erica Whipple set a personal best and school best in the 100m dash, running a 11.25. That eclipses her old personal best mark of 11.32. Whipple, along with teammate Aleen Bailey, will compete in Sunday’s 100m dash finals.

Corey Taylor tied a personal best mark in the 110m hurdles race with a time of 13.72 and qualifying for the finals.

Keri Groover set a personal record in the women’s hammer Keri as she threw 147′ 5, finishing 25th. Her former personal best mark was 144′ 9″.
