South Carolina’s Seth Rose drew 29th-ranked Richard Barker in the first round of the NCAA Singles Championship to be played Wednesday at 9 a.m. EDT in Athens, Ga. The senior is making his second consecutive appearance in the field of 64 players.

“I am familiar with my opponent since we played Rice in the regional,” said Rose. “He is a very talented left-handed player from England. I will try to play my best game and see what happens.”

A senior from West Palm Beach, Fla., Rose fell in a three-set decision to Lance Mills of Nebraska in the round of 64 last season.

Rose earned 2003 All-SEC honors as a second-team selection, earning accolades for the second consecutive season after posting 13 dual match victories, including four against ranked opponents, and combining for 13 doubles wins during his final USC campaign. He was also a second-team selection during his junior season in 2002.
