Columbia, S.C. – The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced the award recipients for Division I at the GCAA Division I Award Dinner May 30, in Stillwater, Okla. and Gamecock golfer Eirik Johansen walked away with three honors. The Stavanger, Norway native was named to the PING All-America Honorable Mention team, as well as the PING All-Region team. Johansen was also one of six players to earn a spot on the Softspikes All-Freshman squad.

During his stellar performance throughout the year, Johansen posted seven Top 10 and ten Top 20 finishes en route to being South Carolina’s leading scorer with a stroke average of 72.53. His best finish of the season was two fourth place finishes at the Turtle Bay Intercollegiate and the Cleveland Golf-ASU Invitational. Not only is he a great player on the course, he excels in the classroom. This past spring Johansen made the Dean’s List after posting a 3.8.
