Tiffany Ross (400m hurdles)
on competing on successive weekends-“Last week at the NCAA’s was the hardest schedule I have ever had to run. I think that I have recovered and it helped that we did not have any hard practices this week. I feel good right now but fatigue may become a factor later this weekend. We will have to see.”
on winning her preliminary round heat-“Winning my heat is something that does a lot to build my confidence. I still have races to run. Advancing in the preliminaries was the first step and I did that, so I am pretty satisfied right now.”
Shevon Stoddart (400m hurdles)
on the first day of the USATF Championships-“I got my rest after the NCAA’s last week. This is a new meet and a new day so I am ready to go. After advancing, I am focused on the round. It was really windy out there today and that is something I had to fight through. I am happy to move onto the semifinals.”
Erica Whipple (100m dash)
on advancing to the semifinals-“I knew I had only five racing in my heat, so I knew I just had to beat one to advance. I am not happy with my time and I feel like my body is breaking down. Last week at the NCAA’s was tough. I feel mentally ready for this meet but physically I am tired. Hopefully there are more rounds to come and I will do my best in each one.”
