COLUMBIA, S.C. – USC golfer Alex Hamilton fired an opening round three-under-par 67 at the 45th Annual Porter Cup at Niagara Falls Country Club in Lewiston, N.Y. Hamiton is currently tied for 13th place, four strokes behind co-leaders Matt Davidson and Brandt Snedeker. The Porter Cup is the second ranked amateur tournament in the United States.

Hamilton, a native of Aiken, S.C., will be competing against the elite amateur golfers in the country. Twenty-six of the top thirty-two amateur golfers as ranked by Golfweek/Titleist, will be competing for the Porter Cup Championship this week. Current PGA Tour stars such as Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Davis Love III, Tom Lehman and Justin Leonard are just a few of the golfers who have competed as amateurs for the Porter Cup in the past. The 72-hole medal play tournament runs through Saturday, July 26th.
