Columbia, S.C. –
Team Florida knocked off the second seeded Midwest team at the 2003 Wachovia USTA Junior Davis Cup Tournament on Sunday at the Sam Daniel Tennis Center on the USC campus. Florida upset Midwest 4-3 advancing them to one of the semifinal matches on Monday. Florida will face the number three seed Southern Cal team on 10am at the Sam Daniel Tennis Courts.

Southern Cal defeated Texas 5-2 early Sunday morning. The other semi-final match will be played between Eastern and Southern at 12 pm.

Southern, the number one seed at the tournament, won easily over Mid-Atlantic 6-1 as they swept all five single matches and split in doubles. Eastern defeated Missouri Valley 5-2 to advance in the main draw.

All main draw matches will be played on Monday at the at Sam Daniel Tennis Center while all consolation matches will be held at the Columbia Tennis Center. The Junior Davis Cup tournament showcases the best high school prospects in the nation as many Division I men’s college coaches are evaluating them.
