July 29, 2003
Columbia, S.C. –

The Southern region claimed their seventh Junior Davis Cup Championship with a 5-2 win over Southern Cal on Tuesday at the Sam Daniel Tennis Center.

Southern entered the match winning 18 of the possible 19 points in their previous three matches. The only point the Southern team lost was the number two doubles match to Mid-Atlantic on Sunday.

Southern would start slow as Southern Cal would take an early lead but Southern would come back to make every court a challenge. Southern Cal took the first sets at number three and number two singles but would only end up pulling out the number two singles for a victory.

Southern clinched the victory with Robbye Poole winning at number four singles in a thriller. Roshan battled after dropping the first set 7-6 to win the second set 7-6. In the third set, Poole would take a 3-1 lead but Roshan would once again battle back to take the lead 6-5. Poole would go on to win the next two games to win the match and clinch the victory for Southern with a 7-6 win.
