COLUMBIA, S.C. – After three rounds of the South Carolina Amateur Championship, USC golfer’s Alex Hamilton and Nash Elliot are in seventh and eighth place, respectively. Hamilton, a native of Aiken, S.C., has fired an even-par 216 (70-73-73) going into Sunday’s final round. West Columbia native Nash Elliot has shot a two-over-par 218 (75-74-69) to join Hamilton in the top 10. Another Gamecock golfer, Jake Thompson also made the cut and currently sits in 25th position with a score of 228 (77-73-78).

This year’s South Carolina Amateur Championship is being held at the Greenville Country Club in Greenville, S.C. The South Carolina Amateur began with 142 players and was cut down to 71 after two rounds. The State Amateur is one of 18 Major Championships that the South Carolina Golf Association conducts throughout the year.
