Columbia, S.C. – The University of South Carolina men’s soccer heads to Charlottesville, Va. this weekend for an exhibition match against the No. 14 University of Virginia Cavaliers. The preseason matchup will take place on Saturday, Aug. 23 at 7:00 p.m. This is the Gamecocks’ first game of the 2003 season, while Virginia warmed up against Old Dominion with a 1-1 tie on Tuesday.

Virginia is one of eight teams from the 2002 NCAA Tournament that the Gamecocks will face this season.

Following the Virginia exhibition matchup, the Gamecocks return home to open the regular season against Boston University on Friday, Aug. 29 at 7:00 p.m. For the second straight year, South Carolina men’s soccer will be the first Gamecock team to kick off the sports season.
