Columbia, S.C. – The University of South Carolina men’s soccer team played to a scoreless tie against the 14th-ranked Virginia Cavaliers in an exhibition match at Kl?ckner Stadium in Charlottesville, Va.
Both teams had several opportunities to net a goal, but solid goalkeeping and a few shots off the crossbar of the goals resulted in a 0-0 tie. There was no overtime period played in the match. Virginia outshot the Gamecocks by one (11-10) and had one more corner kick (7-6). Gamecock goalkeeper, freshman Bradley Guzan, recorded four saves, while Uva’s Ryan Best posted two.
The Gamecocks kickoff of the regular season Friday, August 29 at 7:00 p.m. when they host Boston University at Eugene E. Stone III Stadium. Following the Gamecock-Terrier matchup, the South Carolina players will be available for autographs.
