Columbia, S.C. – Friday, August 29, marks the start of the 2003 athletics season for the University of South Carolina and the men’s soccer team has the honor of kicking off the season for the second straight year. The Gamecocks host Boston University at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29 at Eugene E. Stone III Stadium. This is the third meeting between the Gamecocks and the Terriers with South Carolina leading the series 2-0.

The Gamecocks are 22-2-1 in home openers. This is only the fourth year South Carolina has begun the season in the month of August. South Carolina returns nine letterwinners who posted an 11-8-1 mark last season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive year.

The Terriers return eight starters and 19 letterwinners from the 2002 squad that finished that finished with an 8-6-3 mark. Boston concluded the 2002 season with a 6th place standing in the America East Conference.

There will be an autograph session following the match on Friday night. All Gamecock players will be available for autographs.
