Columbia, S.C. – Two more Gamecocks earned tournament honors for the season as junior middle blocker Niece Curry and sophomore middle blocker Lauren Ford were named to the Carolina Classic all-tournament team. The duo helped lead the Gamecocks to a 1-1 record at the tournament and a 3-1 victory over No. 17 North Carolina.

For the tournament, Curry led the team with 29 kills and averaged 3.62 kills per game. She hit .440, recorded two block solos and four service aces. The Kalamazoo, Mich. native also recorded double-figure kills in both matches.

Ford, a native of Indianapolis, Ind. led the team in blocks with eight and averaged 1.00 block per game. Ford recorded 18 kills for the weekend and average 2.25 kills per game. Ford tied her season high in block assists with six in the match against UNC.

USC (2-3) finished second at the tournament while Michigan State (5-0) won the title. The Spartan’s Jenny Rood was named tournament MVP.
