COLUMBIA, S.C. –
The South Carolina volleyball team opens up Southeastern Conference play this weekend as they travel to Baton Rouge, La. Friday and Fayetteville, Ark. Sunday. South Carolina enters the weekend with a 6-6 overall record coming off a 2-1 record at the 2003 Gamecock Invitational.

South Carolina begins the weekend facing the Bayou Bengals in Baton Rouge at 8 p.m. (ET). LSU enters the match with a 5-8 record, 0-1 in the SEC. The Tigers and the Lady Backs of Arkansas met up in Baton Rouge Wednesday night with Arkansas notching the 3-1 win. In 2002, the Gamecocks beat LSU 3-1 (21-30, 30-26, 30-20, and 30-19) in Baton Rouge to mark their eighth straight victory over the Tigers. The Garnet and Black are 10-6 all-time against LSU with the last Tiger victory over the Gamecocks occurring in 1995 (3-1).

Arkansas enters Sunday’s match with an 8-4 record, 1-0 in the SEC but faces the Wildcats of Kentucky on Friday evening in Fayetteville. Carolina is 5-8 against Arkansas all-time and defeated the Lady Backs 3-1 (27-30, 31-29, 33-31, and 30-22) in 2002.

South Carolina faces Ole Miss in their conference home opener Oct. 3 at 7 p.m.
