Columbia, S.C. –

The University of South Carolina Equestrian team will travel to Athens and face the Georgia Bulldogs on Friday, October 3. The Gamecocks are coming off winning the South Carolina IHSA competition that they hosted on September 27 at the Irish Oaks Equestrian Centre. The competition featured such schools as Clemson, Berry College, Erskine, Lander, Anderson, Judson College and Augusta State. This week’s competition versus Georgia will feature the new dual meet format.

The new format will feature four events: Equitation over fences, equitation on the flats, western equitation or horsemanship and reining. Five riders from each team will compete head to head on each event on the same set of horses. The lowest score of the five riders will be dropped before computing the team score.

The Bulldogs are coming off a scrimmage on Sunday against Berry College where they prevailed by a score of 710-603. The competition will start at 2pm at the Animal Science Arena in Athens.
