OFF THE FIELD WITH M.A. Foster

Freshman M.A. Foster has made an impact on the field for Carolina at forward. Foster owns three goals and three assists on the year and has played in all 11 matches to start the season for Carolina.
You are seeing a lot of playing time … What are your thoughts of playing so much as a freshman?
I didn’t think I did but I definitely worked hard this summer so I could come in and contribute right away. I really enjoy it because a lot of our freshman are getting playing time and some places you can’t do that because they will not play them but here they do.
Did you think that you would be tied in scoring and tied in points?
I had no idea but it is great. I don’t really look at it but I’m really glad that I am making an impact on the team and helping the team win.
Why USC?
The coaches and the girls. I had a lot of fun on my visit.
What is something you enjoyed in class.
University 101 is a lot like my high school. It is very small and I’m going to go do volunteer work at an animal shelter.
What team or teams do you look most forward to playing?
Georgia, and Florida. Georgia because I’m from there and Florida because I looked there.
Individual goal for the season?
Become better as a player and I have a lot of work to do agility wise.
What is your team nickname?
Monster because I’m just so huge. (Foster is 5-3)
What are your pre-game rituals?
I do heading drills before I go into the locker room.
What do you like the most about South Carolina?
The people, and I stayed in the south because of the southern hospitality.
What is it like playing for Coach Smith?
Coach Smith is great. She is your friend on and off the field. I learn a lot from the coaching staff each practice and they make you a better person.
Favorite place on campus?
The horseshoe. It is probably a pretty normal answer from everyone but it is very pretty.
What celebration would you do after any game winning goal in a huge game?
The Shoeshine but me and a few other girls are still deciding on it.
What kind of music do you play on your guitar an who do you like listening to?
I play anything acoustic. I am big Van Morrison and Bob Dylan fan.
