COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina women’s cross country team led by Jenny Lake finished 18th at the Southeast Regional Championships in Greenville, N.C. at East Carolina’s Lake Kristi Course. Jenny Lake ran with the lead pack throughout the race and finished in 17th place out of 188 participating runners. The junior from Geneseo, Ill. finished the six-kilometer race with a time of 20:48. Lake crossed the five-kilometer mark at a time of 17:18, which is a 5K personal best.

Also competing for the Gamecocks was senior Mary Wright, junior Mary Claire Utsey and freshmen Tristan Rackow, Julie Reale, Christine Mudd and Karen Wigal. The Southeast Regional Championships capped the 2003 season for a young Gamecock squad that will only lose one senior, Mary Wright.
