Recap?|? Box Score

Appalachian State Coach Adrienne Shuler

“We couldn’t match up with them well on size, we jut wanted to put a body on them. We are trying to get our kids to compete. It’s stiff competition; in order to be the best you have to beat the best. Hopefully, this will help prepare us for what we want to accomplish in our conference.”

South Carolina Coach Susan Walvius

“It was a great opportunity to get our freshmen some quality minutes. Appalachian State has a good team, with four starters back. We received good performances from our freshmen. Iva Sliskovic is really coming on. Lauren Simms was the star of the preseason; she is a very special player. You haven’t seen anything from her yet. (Kelly) Morrone did a good job with the freshmen; she provides great leadership. Rebounding and defense are two areas we need to talk about. We had good moments and then some breakdowns. There is a lot of room for improvement. Free throws are critical. If we make our free throws, we beat Clemson. We’ve addressed this and we have good shooters. It’s a mental issue. I am impressed with Larissa Kulcsar’s play. She’s an intelligent player. Lea Fabbri played with confidence. We got what we were looking for from the freshmen.”
