COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina led by Kelly Morrone, erased a 22-point deficit only to fall 71-65 to Ole Miss. USC cut the Lady Rebels lead down to two points after a Morrone three-point basket with 52 second left in the game. Morrone recording her first double-double of the season as she netted 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

“We played extremely well,” stated Head Coach Susan Walvius. “We dug ourselves into a hole early, at the end of the game they had four offensive rebounds in the last minute. It’s disappointing for us and our fans but we are capable of winning.”

Ole Miss (14-8, 5-3) jumped out to a 10-0 first half lead and led 48-32 at the break. Freshman Armintie Price scored 12 of her career high 22 points the first half and pulled down 11 rebounds for the game. Four players scored in double figures to pace the Lady Rebels.

South Carolina attempted a season high 39 three-pointers; Morrone finished the game 7 for 12 from behind the arc. Senior guard Cristina Ciocan added 13 points, seven rebounds and five steals.

The Gamecocks (9-11, 0-7) will travel to Knoxville, Tenn., to face the top-ranked Tennessee Lady Vols on Sunday, Feb. 8 at 3:00 p.m.
