Orlando, Fla. – South Carolina senior swimmer Istvan Bathazi placed fourth in the 400 meter individual medley final at the 2004 ConocoPhillips US National Championships. Bathazi, a two-time honorable mention All-American in the 400 IM, finished the event with a time of 4:23.69. Kevin Clements took first place in the 400 IM with a time of 4:18.91.

Bathazi has twice competed in the Olympics as a member of the Hungarian National Team and was the 2000 European Champion in this event. He holds the school records at South Carolina in the 200 & 400 individual medley.

South Carolina swimming and diving returns to the pool on Wednesday, Feb. 25 at the SEC Championships in Athens, Ga.
