SCOUTING REPORT
USC hosts Region II foes Richmond and Wofford Saturday at the Sam Daniel Tennis Center. The Gamecocks enter the weekend with a No. 24 national ranking and are riding a six match win streak as they look to record an 8-0 start this weekend, taking on Richmond at 11 a.m., then Wofford at 3 p.m.

AGAINST RICHMOND
The Gamecocks and the Spiders meet for the first time since 1994 this weekend … USC leads the all-time series, 5-0 … In their last meeting, USC won 7-0 at Columbia on April 9, 1994 … The Spiders enter the match with a record of 1-9 on the 2004 season … UR lost at Richmond Friday night in a tough 4-3 decision … This will be the second match of the season in which the Spiders face a ranked opponent … Earlier this year, UR took on No. 12 Virginia Commonwealth and lost 5-0.

AGAINST WOFFORD
Carolina and Wofford meet for only the second time in series history this weekend … In the first matchup, Carolina beat Wofford 7-0 at Columbia on Feb. 17, 2002 … Wofford is having one of its best starts since becoming a Division I-A member with a 4-1 record this season … The Terriers’ only loss was a 6-1 decision at High Point … USC and Woffod have four common opponents this season, including the Richmond Spiders, who Wofford faces Sunday

Entering his 20th year at the helm of the Carolina men’s tennis program, Head Coach Kent DeMars recently reached his 300th win as the Gamecock coach. This milestone was achieved on Feb. 15 when USC topped the Charlotte 49ers, 7-0, in a regional match-up in Columbia. Just last year, Coach DeMars notched his 500th career win as a collegiate head coach as Carolina upended No. 36 Mississippi State in Starkville on Feb. 28, 4-3.

At USC, DeMars has guided teams to 10 consecutive NCAA bids, 17 appearances in 19 seasons, and a No. 14 average national ranking. He has been named Region II Coach of the Year seven times in the past 16 seasons and was the 1989 NCAA Division I Coach of the Year.
