March 10, 2004
From March 12th through 14th, the University of South Carolina women’s golf team will host its annual tournament, the Lady Gamecock Classic, at The University Club in Blythewood, South Carolina.
The 54-hole tournament format will consist of 18 holes played Friday through Sunday. Tee times begin at 8:20 a.m. on Friday and Saturday with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start on Sunday.
Once again, this year’s tournament should prove to be exciting as The University Club will play as a par 72, 5,996 yard course. The field for the tournament is very diverse as, once again, five different conferences will be represented. This year’s field of 11 teams features 10 currently ranked in the Golf Week Top 50.
Last year, Wake Forest won the rain-shortened tournament, while South Carolina’s Kacy Thompson captured medalist honors in a playoff involving three other golfers.
This year’s tournament will feature round-by-round live stats provided by Golf Stat. Fans can follow all the action live by looking at www.golfstat.com. Media will be emailed results at the end of each day.
The public is welcome to attend and the tournament is free of charge.
The University Club is located off of I-77 at Exit 27 (Blythewood).
