South Carolina women’s golfer Adrienne Gautreaux was named as the SEC Golfer of the Week Friday for her achievements over the past week. The Gamecock team captain led the 27th-ranked South Carolina women’s squad to a second-place finish in the 21st annual Lady Gamecock Classic last weekend while capturing a second-place finish for herself. Gautreaux shot a six-over-par, 222, over the three rounds to finish as the top SEC woman.

On Sunday, March 7, Gautreaux led USC to a seventh-place finish in the LSU/Cleveland Classic Tournament while firing a two-over-par 218 for second place. The native of Mabank, Texas, carded two par 72 rounds in the 54-hole tournament.

“I’m flattered to win this award but team success is more important to me than individual honors.” said Gautreaux. “I’ve been working hard on my game this year on my game but it means more to me to see our team getting ready for the SEC Tournament in April.”

Gautreaux is only the second USC woman to capture the SEC’s weekly award as Kristy McPherson was honored four times durng her career (2003, two times in 2002 and 2000).
