South Carolina junior Chelsea Hammond won the women’s heptathlon at the Sea Ray Relays today, tallying 5,405 points – a personal best and the second best score nationally this season. The Relay meet continues through Saturday.

Hammond defeated former SEC champion Tacita Bass and SEC runner-up Josie Hahn to win the seven-event title. Her marks follow below.

USC also picked up four regional qualifiers today – with three of them coming from second place finishes:

Adrian Durant was second in the 100m and regionally qualified with a time of 10.43.

Khalilah Carpenter was second in the 100m and qualified for the NCAA Regional at 11.51.

Shevon Stoddart was second in the 400m hurdles and also qualified for the NCAA Regional with a time of 57.59.

Ronnetta Alexander was fifth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.55 – an NCAA Regional qualifier.
