Columbia, S.C. – University of South Carolina women’s soccer Head Coach Shelley Smith has been selected to the University of Vermont Athletic Hall of Fame. Coach Smith is among 10 inductees that will be lauded at the 36th annual Athletic Hall of Fame Celebration and Dinner on October 2, 2004.

“I am honored to be recognized with such accomplished athletes,” said Coach Smith. “It is nice to be remembered by the university.”

Smith, who played for the Catamounts from 1990-1993, was primarily a center midfielder and central defender during her four years there. Smith was named all-conference and regional All-American in both 1992 and ’93. During her freshman year, the Catamounts won the ECAC Tournament.

Coach Smith will be entering her fourth season as head coach of the Gamecocks. During her tenure, the Gamecocks have compiled a record of 31-21-8 and made two consecutive appearances to the SEC Tournament.
