This might just be her time to shine. Getting up early this morning for an 8:30 am shake-out with former teammate Demetria Washington and then breakfast with her parents — Lashinda Demus looks poised for tonight’s finals.
The South Carolina junior enters tonight’s final in the 400m hurdles with the No. 1 time in the trials at 53.70 — a personal best. Demus is running for a berth (top 3) on the US Olympic team at the US Olympic Track and Field Trials in Sacramento.
Gamecock fans can catch the race live on NBC who wil air coverage of today’s action from 7 – 8 pm (EST). The gun is set to go off at 7:14 pm (EST).
Also competing today in the finals for an Olympic berth is three-time NCAA runner-up Tony Allmond. Allmond enters the finals of the long jump in the fourth position. Allmond begins competion at 7:30 pm (EST).
Otis Harris will run in the prelims of the 400m. Harris, the 2003 NCAA runner-up in the 400m, runs at 6 pm (EST).
