Bertagne, France – Three members of the South Carolina women’s basketball team continued competition at the 2004 FIBA U-20 European Championships. Gamecock signee Ilona Burgrova and her native country The Czech Repubic were defeated by Russia 89-79 in the semifinals. The Czech Republic will play the loser of the Hungary-France semifinal for the bronze medal on Sunday Croatia, with Lea Fabbri and Iva Sliskovic, lost to Ukraine 106-63.
Burgrova had her second double-double in the last three games with 12 points and 10 rebounds, including an 8/8 performance from the free throw line.
Fabbri and Sliskovic contributed to Croatia, despte the loss. Fabbri had 10 points and 5 assists while Burgrova finished with three points and four rebounds. Croatia will play the Slovak Republic on Sunday for seventh place.
