OTTAWA, CANADA – Arriving late last night, South Carolina’s basketball team wasted no time in getting to work this morning with a 9:15 am breakfast meeting and then an 11 am work-out at the University of Ottawa. The Gamecocks are on a five-day in-season foreign tour in Canada where they will play three Canadian teams within a three-day stretch in Ottawa and Montreal.
USC will play Carleton University this evening (Thursday) – the two-time Canadian national champions who hale from Ottawa. USC will start three different line-ups in Canada. USC Head Coach Dave Odom announced his line-up for this evening as:
1 Tre’ Kelley (G)
10 Rocky Trice (G)
21 Tarence Kinsey (F)
14 Antoine Tisby (F)
54 John Chappell (C)
The team has already picked up on the local lingo of the USA’s Northern neighbors in Canada, frequently shouting ‘Ayyyyy’ in practice. After stretching and some shooting, the Gamecock team went through some light drills under the watchful eye of a large number of University of Ottawa students.
After practice the team headed to the Canada’s own capital building, Parliament, where they went on a brief guided tour. USC also went sightseeing in downtown Ottawa a bit. The team will eat pre-game meal at 4 pm before playing Carleton tonight at 8 pm.
“Parliament was an impressive building. I know in years to come our players will be happy we were able to take a tour of the building,” said Odom.
