Columbia, SC –
USC athletic department’s annual food drive held Saturday, November 6th before the USC vs. Arkansas football game was a success.

Student athletes from women’s soccer, men’s and women’s track and field, men’s and women’s golf and equestrian participated in Saturday’s food drive. Fans donated 1,674.6 pounds of food, more than 500 pounds over last year’s effort. “This is enough food to feed 36 people for one full week,” according to Abey Coker of Harvest Hope Food Bank.

The food collected will be donated to Harvest Hope Food Bank, which serves 59,000 people per week throughout 18 counties of central South Carolina by distributing food to over 350 member agencies. Food donations received at the football game will assist hungry families during the holiday season and the upcoming winter months when their need is greatest.

The student-athletes will be continuing the food drive collection with their team competition that runs through November 23rd.
