Aurburn, Ala. – South Carolina swimming posted several top times last night at the Auburn Invitational hosted by the nationally ranked Auburn Tigers. The women’s 200 yard freestyle relay team consisting of Haley Skaggs, Carolynn McHugh, Christi Williams, and Alyssa Cada had a time of 1:34.67. Christi Williams had a time of 2:05.60 in the 200 yard IM and Carly Hensel finished with a 2:06.87. Carolynn McHugh posted a time of 23.93 in the 50 yard freestyle and Haley Skaggs finished with a time of 23.98. The women’s 400 yard medley relay team of Williams, Skaggs, Mandee Cregar and Kasey Tamkun had a time of 3:53.53.
The men had several top performances as well including Dan White who had a time of 4:27.20 in the 500 yard freestyle which is an NCAA “B” Standard. Tamas Bathazi also did well in the long distance event with a time of 4:30.27. In the 50 yard freestyle event, Reid Duff had a time of 21.15, with Justin Kata (21.77), and Colby Mack (21.93) finishing close behind.
Finals for today’s event begin at 6 p.m. (central).
