Blythewood, S.C. – South Carolina equestrian defeated Fresno State 1052.54 to 924.275 for their first home victory of the season on Saturday despite at One Wood Farm in Blythewood, S.C.

The Gamecocks dominated each division with the largest point margins in equitation on the flat and equitation over fences. Leading USC on the flat was Tara Brothers with a score of 83, defeating Fresno State’s Amy Simmons who scored 63 points. USC finished the event with a score of 302 to Fresno State’s 229. In equitation over fences, Brothers and Terebsi dominated the division, both scoring 78. The Gamecocks totaled 294 points to Fresno State’s 236 in the competition.

The numbers were a little closer in Western, as the Gamecocks only defeated the Bulldogs by eight and a half points in horsemanship. Allison Bradley earned the highest score for USC with 59 points, while teammate Michelle Grah finished close behind with 58.

In reigning, Lindsey Williams scored an impressive 65.49 points on a horse named “Slick” to earn the highest score in the division. Williams defeated opponent Sarah Barns, who scored 63.825. The Gamecocks won the division 227.54 to 219.4775.

USC equestrian will be back in action Saturday, February 5 at One Wood Farm in Blythewood, S.C. The competition will begin at 1 p.m.
