Sunday’s final round of the Lady Gamecock Classic played at the University Club ended with No. 13 New Mexico winning the team championship with a 308-313-309=930 and host South Carolina taking fourth with a 313-315-319=947.
The tournament’s individual medalist was Furman’s Jenny Suh, who carded a 76-73-75=224. Suh entered the tournament as the nation’s 29th-ranked player.
Freshman Caroline Rominger led the way for South Carolina, finishing third on the individual leaderboard with a 72-76-80=228. Playing as an individual with her score not counting toward the Gamecocks’ total was freshman Whitney Simons, who turned heads by finishing in a tie for 14th with a 73-88-77=238, matching among others, teammate Erica Battle, who finished the three-day tournament with a 79-82-77=238.
Gamecock sophomore Jenna Pearson’s 81-79-79=239 was good for 19th overall, with senior Tiffany Catafygiotu carding an 81-79-85=245 to finish in a tie for 33rd with teammate Laura McCaslin, who finished with an 81-81-83=245.
Playing as an individual, Carolina freshman Blythe Worley fired an 84-80-81=245 to match Catafygiotu and McCaslin, with fellow Gamecock freshman Laura Raffo finishing 43rd with an 83-81-84=248. Like Worley, Raffor also competed as an individual.
