Columbia, S.C. – The University of South Carolina women’s soccer team has announced seven players who have committed to play for the Gamecocks beginning in the 2005 season.
“We are excited to have this class join our program in the fall,” said USC head coach Shelley Smith. “The level of this class is strong enough to challenge for playing time right away. It is a well-rounded group that gives us depth in several positions on the field.”

Coach Smith: “Monica also has versatility and will compete for time in the backfield and midfield. She is smart player, who reads the game well. Good endurance and technical ability, is prepared for the college game.”

– 2004-05 NJCAA All-American at Young Harris Junior College
– Scored 56 goals and 23 assists as sophomore at Young Harris last fall season
– Member of Trinidiad National Team
– Played in 2004 Olympic Qualifying Tournament as well as competed against U.S. National Team

– Scored 37 career goals and tallied 13 assists; third on scoring list at Oak Hills History List
– Three-time all-conference selection and a four-year varsity letter award winner
– Named Rookie of the Year as a freshman in 2001 season; varsity starter for 17 out of 18 games
– Recovered from knee injury in summer of 2003 to play for Ohio Elite Soccer Academy; won USA National Championship
