Columbia, S.C. – The 2005 South Carolina women’s soccer team continues its preseason schedule on Monday, Aug. 15 as the Gamecocks host Davidson at 6 p.m. at Stone Stadium in an exhibition match. Carolina is less than two weeks away from the first regular season match of the year on Friday, Aug. 26 when USC hosts Mercer.

“This year for the first time we have two preseason games that will give us an opportunity to prepare and work as a team before our opening game,” said USC head coach Shelley Smith. “We are playing a very competitive schedule in the regular season. Our non-conference schedule is strong and will be a good test for us before we get into conference play in the SEC.”

South Carolina will head to Durham, N.C. this weekend for its second exhibition match against Duke. The Gamecocks and Blue Devils will meet on Saturday at 7 p.m. The team returned to Columbia this past weekend and opened up practice this past Wednesday, Aug. 10.

Beginning on Friday, Aug. 26 with the season opener vs. Mercer, the Gamecocks will again be providing live Gametracker stats and live audio for all home matches on the schedule at www.uscsports.com. Carolina will also have live audio broadcasting for the Sept. 9 road match at Clemson in the 2005 Carolina Cup. Richard Rowell returns for his fifth year calling the action for both the USC men’s and women’s soccer teams.
