Columbia, S.C. – With a MIDNIGHT MADNESS flare, the University of South Carolina basketball programs will host HARDWOOD HOOPLA – a fun-filled family night of basketball, autographs, contests, music and much more. HARDWOOD HOOPLA will be hosted by both Carolina basketball teams tonight from 6-8 pm at the USC Basketball Practice Facility (corner of Blossom and Assembly).

5:45 pm – Doors Open
B-106 FM Broadcasts live from 5 until 6 pm
All proceeds go to Coaches vs. Cancer (American Cancer Society)
$10 – family
$5 – adult
$3 – student, adults over 60
Free – USC students and faculty

6:00 pm – Hardwood Hoopla begins!

WISW radio Broadcasts live from 6 – 8 pm (Mike Morgan sports talk show – the voice of the men’s basketball team).

WIS TV and WLTX TV will broadcast LIVE during their 6 and 7 pm hour shows (interview players and coaches in both hours).

First 500 will receive a free Hardwood Hoopla t-shirt! (in the Frank McGuire Room).

Face decorating for kids by the USC cheerleaders and dance team (in the Frank McGuire Room).

Pizza Hut pizza and Coke products served by Carolina men’s and women’s assistant basketball coaches (from the cantina downstairs in the Practice Facility).

Autographs begin with the players, Coach Odom and Coach Walvius (in the gym)

PLAYERS AND COACHES WILL ONLY SIGN THE TEAM POSTER (ONE PER PERSON)!

Shoot-to-win prizes (in the gym).

Take your own photo with Cocky and the 2005 NIT Championship trophy (in the gym).

THE 2005-06 SEASON OFFICIALLY BEGINS!!!

Carolina men’s and women’s basketball teams enter the floor and go through warm-ups.

B-106’s Brent Johnson (the MC for the night) welcomes the crowd and introduces Coach Walvius.

Coach Walvius introduces the women’s basketball staff and then introduces junior Shannel Harris who will introduce the women’s players (players toss t-shirts into the crowd).

Coach Odom introduces the men’s basketball staff and then introduces senior Tarence Kinsey who will introduce the men’s players (players toss t-shirts into the crowd).

The men’s and women’s teams and coaches will then be divided up to form 4 teams (2 Garnet teams and 2 Black teams). Team A Garnet and Team A Black will scrimmage each other for eight minutes (see below for rosters — teams will be combined of men’s and women’s players with the assistants from both sides also divided up). Women’s basketball radio play-by-play announcer Andy Demetra will MC both scrimmages.

Brent Johnson will call up 5 female and 5 male players. Each player will answer a question (male then female and so on).

Team B Garnet and Team B Black will warm-up. During the warm-up Brent Johnson will raffle prizes. Team B Garnet and Black will scrimmage for 8 minutes.

Brent Johnson will raffle off additional items.

Brent Johnson will welcome American Cancer Society Community Manager David Sloan to speak.

Brent Johnson will then close the program with Coach Walvius and Coach Odom both addressing the crowd. Brent Johnson to remind the audience the men’s first exhibition is against USC-Aiken on Nov. 10 at 7:30 pm. The women’s scrimmage will be Nov. 14 at 7 pm vs. Everyone’s Internet. Both games will be played at the Colonial Center.
