Oxford, Miss. – Ole Miss scored three goals in the final 10 minutes to rally and defeat the South Carolina women’s soccer team 3-1 on Friday evening at the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium. The Rebels are now 12-3 and 6-1 in the conference while the loss drops Carolina to 5-9 and 1-6 in the SEC. Carolina will return to action on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. ET with a conference match at Mississippi State. Sunday’s match will be televised live on Fox Sports Net South.

South Carolina scored its quickest goal of the year to go up 1-0 with Mary Worthen scoring 14 seconds into the match. USC forward Darcel Mollon took a pass off the kickoff and dribbled down to the endline where she played a cross to Worthen, who knocked in a shot from eight yards out. The goal for Worthen was her second of the season.

Carolina would hold the lead up until the 81st minute when the Rebels tied it at one apiece. Austin Brown scored off the assist from Brittney Potts to knot the match up. A cross from Potts allowed Brown to come in on a breakaway and score her first goal of the year.

Ole Miss took the lead with just under three minutes remaining at 87:41 with Jennifer Hance scoring her seventh goal of the year. Hance was able to get a header goal in for the Rebels off a long feed from midfielder Elise Karlowicz. With USC bringing goalkeeper Lindsay Thorstenson up out of the box following the restart, Ole Miss took advantage of her out of the box and scored their third goal at 87:59, courtesy of Amy Gill.

Thorstenson finished the evening with three saves in goal. Ole Miss had a 15-8 shot advantage and a 6-4 edge in corner kicks. USC midfielder Ashley Kirk had five shots including three on goal to lead the Gamecocks.
