ROCKY FACE, Ga. – The No. 12/16 South Carolina men’s golf team struggled Saturday and slipped to 17th after the second round of play at the Carpet Capital Collegiate at The Farm Golf Club (7,010 yards, Par 72).

Competing against a field that features nine of 18 teams in the top 25, the Gamecocks shot a team score of 304 in the second round to bring their total to 604. The tournament wraps up with the final 18 holes on Sunday.

Senior Eirik Johansen and freshmen Mark Silvers and Baker Elmore fired three-over par 75 today to lead the Gamecocks. Johansen is tied for 38th with a total score of 149, Silvers is tied for 54th (151) and Elmore (159) is in 85th.

Freshman Florian Fritsch (150) was seven-over with a 79 in the second round and sits tied for 50th. Sophomore Mark Anderson is one stroke back of Elmore in 86th-place (160) after shooting 81 on Saturday.

No. 1 Georgia (573) and Georgia Southern share the team lead following heading into Sunday’s final round. Georgia’s Chris Kirk (67-70=137) maintained his place atop the individual leaderboard.
