COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Southeastern Conference announced that South Carolina’s Nicole Miller was named to the third annual 2005 SEC Volleyball Good Works Team. The SEC sponsors Good Works Teams for all 20 league sponsored sports. The purpose of the team is to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.

Miller, a senior middle blocker, has volunteered at the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen, Palmetto Children’s Hospital, Conder Elementary reading program and Project Holiday Joy – Adopt a Family program. A team co-captain, Miller also served in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service program, Dance Marathon and Coaches vs. Cancer.

A native of Stockton, Calif., Miller ranks among the SEC’s top 10 in blocks this season and ranks among South Carolina’s all-time total block leaders. She currently leads the team in block solos with 16, the most by a Gamecock in a single season since 2000.

This marks the second time in her career that Miller has been named to the Good Works Team. She was the first ever selection for the Gamecocks in 2003, while Sarah Morgan was named in 2004.
