WOMEN’S SOCCER
South Carolina senior defender Kimmy Criss has been named to the ESPN The Magazine 2005 CoSIDA Academic All-America University Division third team for women’s soccer. This is the second time that a USC women’s soccer player has earned Academic All-America honors. Jennie Ondo earned the distinction after the 1999-2000 season. Criss, a senior from Knoxville, Tenn. is an accounting major and owns a cumulative grade point average of 4.0, twice being named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll and CoSIDA Academic All-District teams.

MEN’S BASKETBALL (4-1)
The men’s basketball team ran its record to 4-1 after reaching the finals of the Great Alaska Shootout. The Gamecocks posted wins over host Alaska-Anchorage and Monmouth before falling to Marquette in the finals in overtime. Renaldo Balkman, Tre’ Kelley and Tarence Kinsey were named to the all-tournament team. The Gamecocks return home to host UNC Greensboro on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. before traveling to Clemson for a Saturday tilt.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL (2-2)
The women’s basketball team dropped a pair of games to Top 25 teams at the Junkanoo Jam in the Bahamas over the Thanksgiving holiday. The Gamecocks fell to No. 18 Texas by four points, then lost to No. 19 Purdue by eight. Forward Iva Sliskovic was named to the all-tournament team. They host Georgia Southern on Tuesday before taking a two-week break.

SWIMMING & DIVING (M: 1-4; W: 2-4)
The USC swimming and diving teams return to the pool this weekend at the Christmas Invitational in Athens, Ga. It will be their final competition of the 2005 calendar year.

VOLLEYBALL (13-14, 5-11)
The volleyball season wrapped up its season with a 3-0 win over Winthrop on Saturday. The win was the third straight for the Gamecocks and it snapped a 22-match winning streak for Winthrop. With the win, the Gamecocks improved to 6-4 at home this season, marking the first winning record at home since 2002. It also marked the 90th career win for Coach Somera. Senior Sarah Morgan finished her career with 972 digs and is tied for ninth all-time among Gamecock leaders. Nicole Miller posted two block assists and finished her career with 281 and is ranked tenth alltime. With her 105 blocks this season, it marks the second consecutive year that USC has had a player record at least 100 blocks in a single season.
