Recap | Final Stats | Notes

Head Coach Susan Walvius

Opening Statement:
“I was pleased with our overall performance. The game plan was to push tempo and beat the zone. We knew we had to guard Keturah Newkirk and Samantha Schlaegel. Until a stretch in the game, I thought we did a good job executing that game plan.”

Regarding Practice:
“All the local and international players, we’re actually going to keep practicing over the break. We know that we have a tough stretch coming up. I think that gives us an advantage over some teams to actually have practice.”

Regarding Individual Play:
“Lauren Simms did a good job. Larissa Kulcsar did a good job defensively for us. Demetress Adams is going to continue being good and keep getting better and better.”

Regarding Melanie Johnson:
“Melanie is a special athlete. She works hard everyday and wants to be a great basketball player. She understands her role and what she can bring to the team. She does her role well and especially today.”

Junior Forward Melanie Johnson

Regarding Winter Break Schedule:
“I didn’t know how we’d handle playing five games in nine days. Everybody has just stepped up and kept a clear head during the stretch.”

Junior Guard Stacy Booker

Regarding Winter Break Schedule:
“We just kept our focus and went out and executed everything. We’ve had five games in nine days, and in between those games we’ve had practices where we worked on fundamentals.”

Regarding SEC Play:
“We’ll just need to keep playing the good basketball we’ve been playing. We’ll need to keep playing the good defense we’ve had going.”
