South Carolina Post-Game Notes
• Sunday’s game marked the 20th meeting all-time between Vanderbilt and South Carolina. The Commodores hold a 15-5 advantage in the series history.
• Both Vanderbilt and South Carolina have played Clemson this year, with Vandy claiming an 86-49 win and Carolina picking up a 77-46 victory.
• Entering Sunday’s game, the Gamecocks led the SEC in field goal percentage defense (32.7 pct.) and blocked shots (7.40 per game). In addition, Carolina ranked second in the league in scoring defense (52.9 ppg) and defensive rebounds (27.20 rpg)
• Of Carolina’s first six SEC games this year, four are against teams ranked in the top 25. The Gamecocks have already faced No. 1 Tennessee and No. 3 LSU, they played No. 23 Vanderbilt today and face No. 13 Georgia in their next home game. This portion of the schedule marks the fourth time during the Susan Walvius era that Carolina faced four ranked teams in its first six games (2005-06, 2002-03, 2000-01 and 1997-98).
• Vanderbilt entered the game ranking among the national leaders in field goal percentage at 50.2 percent. Carolina limited the Commodores to 41.2 percent shooting in the first half.
• Stacy Booker dished out three assists in the first half, tying a season high. Her career high for assists is seven, set against Tennessee last year. She finished Sunday’s game with four assists.
• Vanderbilt punished South Carolina when it turned the ball over and when it didn’t box out in the first half, as the Commodores held a 11-4 halftime advantage in points off turnovers and a 12-2 halftime edge in second chance points.
• Including Sunday’s game, South Carolina has made at least one three-pointer in 134 consecutive games.
• Ilona Burgrova scored in double figures for the third time this season.
• Stacy Booker has made at least one three-pointer in each of her last 11 games.
• Iva Sliskovic tied her season high with four assists.
• Lauren Simms finished with 10 points, marking her sixth double-figure scoring effort in the last eight games.
