CHARLESTON, S.C. – University of South Carolina senior Greg Reece has been selected by the Charleston Battery of the United Soccer League First Division Player Draft. The 2005 Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year, Reece was the Battery’s first pick of the draft in the second round.

A 6-3, 190-pounder, Reece capped a successful career at South Carolina in 2005. He earned third-team All-America honors from College Soccer News and honorable mention honors from Soccer Times. The Clemmons, N.C., native was selected first-team All-Conference USA and first-team All-South Region as well. He was a two-year team captain and led the Gamecocks to three NCAA Tournament appearances and the 2005 C-USA Tournament Championship.
