COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina had two representatives at the National Reining Horse Association Collegiate Championship held May 20 in Oklahoma City, Okla. Junior Lindsay Williams and senior Rachel Sternoff were selected to compete among 12 riders at the elite competition. Williams tied for third, while Sternoff finished 10th.

“I thought our girls rode really well, I am very proud of them,” said western coach Ruth Sorrell. “Some of the top collegiate reining riders competed at this event and our girls represented the school very well.”

Williams recorded a score of 217.0 as she rode Smart Like Jose and tied with Tona Brooks from Texas A&M. Sternoff rode El Fires Ablazin and posted a score of 202.5 for her finish.

Founded in 1966, the NRHA is an organization dedicated to the promotion of the reining horse. It serves as the setting body for the sport of Reining worldwide.
