COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina golfer Eirik Johansen was named a 2006 Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America, the organization recently announced. Johansen received the prestigious honor for the second straight season.

Only juniors and seniors are eligible to be a Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar and must have at least a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average. In addition, golfers must have under a 76.0 stroke average for Division I. This is the third straight year that South Carolina has had at least one golfer make the team.

Johansen capped a highly successful Gamecock career in June. He competed in all 50 events that South Carolina entered during his four-year career. Johansen served as a team captain in 2005-06, helping the Gamecocks earn a trip to the NCAA Championship. The sport and entertainment management major also earned CoSIDA Academic All-District III At-Large honors in May. Johansen collected first-team All-Southeastern Conference accolades in 2003, 2004 and 2006 and also made the All-Southeast Region squad during those seasons. He was an honorable mention All-American as a freshman in 2003 and 2006 and recorded 20 top-10 finishes
