University of South Carolina senior Mike Sambursky has been selected a third-team Preseason All-American by College Soccer News (collegesoccernews.com). Earlier in the week, the Katy, Texas, native was voted as Conference USA’s Preseason Offensive Player of the Year.

Sambursky led South Carolina in scoring last season, racking up 24 points on a team-high eight goals, including four game winners, and eight assists. He was voted a first-team all-Conference USA selection and made the All-South Region first team in 2005. Sambursky is a two-year starter for the Gamecocks, playing in 51 matches over the last three seasons. He has amassed 136 shots and 40 points on 13 goals and 14 assists.

College Soccer News recognized 33 players on its preseason All-America team.

South Carolina opens the 2006 season against Clemson on Friday, Aug. 25, in Columbia. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Stone Stadium on the USC campus.
