The South Carolina men’s soccer team (5-1-0) leaped to No. 10 in this week’s National Soccer Coaches Association of America Poll. The Gamecocks, who have won five straight games, were the biggest mover in this week’s poll, up 11 spots from No. 21.

The Gamecocks are one of two Conference USA teams ranked in the top 10 and four among the nation’s top 25. SMU (6-0-0), the coaches’ preseason choice win the league, took over the No. 1 spot. Unbeaten Kentucky (5-0-1) jumped six spots into a tie for 16th. Memphis (4-0-1) rounds out the poll at No. 25.

South Carolina’s next match is set for 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 17, when the Davidson Wildcats visit Columbia. The men’s match will follow a contest between the Carolina women’s team and Jacksonville State that will kick off at Noon at Stone Stadium. All kids who wear a youth soccer jersey to the game receive $1 admission.
